fresco di lana by laura boffi
this air conditioning curtain concept designed by recent graduate from the design academy
eindhoven. made from wool felt from native sheep in sardinia, italy, 'fresco di lana' is meant
to be kept wet thanks to water pumped from a tank on the floor leading to one positioned
above a door or window, which resembles inverted curtain swag. the tanks are to be made
in ceramics.
by putting the wool curtain in front of open windows / doors, hot air filtering in from the
outside passes between the wet honeycomb weave, and through evaporative cooling freshens
the air as it enters the house. the wet felt also provides a place in which to grow plants,
creating a kind of indoor vertical garden.

this is a beautiful idea! people who love nature won't have problems if they haven't a garden. good luck laura and go on....

I really like this concept. Using local materials, and a low energy method to cool what is normally thick and hot climes. The plant bit is the cutest!

This is such a great, and novel solution to our sunroom getting too warm in the summer afternoons. i did not want to install curtains. When can we order one?
