'tank chair' by pharrell williams
U.S. singer pharrell williams has once again designed a piece of furniture - the 'tank chair'.
made from plexiglass and full grain colt leather the 'tank chair' is available in four colors.
the chair will be on display at the galerie emmanuel perrotin at design miami
from december 1st to 5th, 2009.

I actually like this. especially the pink one. It'd be much better if it worked/rolled though. It'd be awesome to use a working one as a desk chair.

I liked his other one too. the one with manikin limbs. Just think they have a nice bit of fun about them. No style though, they are vulgar, but represent hip-hop perfectly.

ok that suck and i know why: because you it's ok to do shits and to find stupid dudes to publish it and even more stupid ones to show it in their gallery, but it suck in so many ways and it's even unforgivable to Designboom, wich i considered as a valuable website to present shits. I am sorry for the art and design community that will have to get that remarquable representation of dumbness in their mail box. They will just think that the designboom webmaster is now a dog or even worse, a slut! I don't want to seam crazy, but maybe that whatever artist payed everybody to show his shit so he can have a lot of fun!

who is this that keeps stating better be polite guys...? I mean is this a serious chair or something tongue-in-cheek? The chair looks not well thought out, a one-liner of sorts. Is it a piece of art making commentary on furniture or an actual piece of furniture. And is Pharrell a design student or someone capitalizing on his pre-existing brand cache? It's along the line of Kid Robot/BAPE/coogi brands that maybe Usher, eminem, and little Bieber will put in their clubhouses/yo MTV cribs. I am done with this PR junket crap out there. Is it hype or is it buzz?

The tracks should be wider at the top than the bottom if they are to emulate those of a military tank. And isn't the seat exactly the same as the one he used for his ‘perspective’ chair which is a seat design almost identical to that of a classic chair by some other designer?

I think it's design for Hip-Hop fans. Most "designers" like design made by "designers" for "designers" here is something that is made for a rap video and for people who buy BAPE, Icecream, BBC etc. These people exist, this chair has an audience. No need for the Apple/Muji/Monocle/ crew to get angry about it ;-P
