daisung kim: 24K pencil

'24K pencil' by daisung kim

gold is currently at the highest price it has ever been.
korean designer daisung kim has sent us images of his new design '24K pencil'.
hand crafted, the surface of the pencil is carefully plated with a thin layer

stupid as no brainer!
don't waste gold!   12.02.09
I bet Abramovich use that for contracts
jimmy l.   12.02.09
I dont know what's this thing's purpose

but I cant convince myself that 'this thing is designed'
toutee   12.02.09
What the hell is this?
j2nsa   12.02.09
Great idea and great packaging.
Brian   12.02.09
what a waste!

the "designer" has too much spare time and resources.
wentao   12.02.09
cool design
savio   12.02.09
"Let them eat pencils!"
juice   12.02.09
would you save the shavings after sharpening the pencil? This could potentially ask ppl to rethink value of waste...?
V   12.02.09
Great Idea, but I saw the project only a design format.
Ophir Ribeiro de Sá Junior   12.02.09
It should be in the art posts, and not design. Well, at least then somebody would buy this shit as art, but, as design...no way!
Leo   12.02.09
Only slightly more useful than the gold brick, or pet rock.
dblplus   12.03.09
mm...worst or waste
giung yu   12.06.09
It takes a lot of energy and hard work to get gold out of the ground - I imagine the user would recycle the gold. Otherwise this is a stupid wasteful idea.
Ari Jewellery   12.07.09
Even if we are to believe that this is an attempt to highlight the waste problem, it is a clumsy attempt at best. Design is not a vehicle for public comment, it is a way of making the world better.

He should try to make something, not just an argument.
S Spencer   12.08.09
There is no purpose on this. A complete waste of this elegant material...
