5.5 designers: eternal ice drop for hennessy cognac

eternal ice drop by 5.5 designers for hennessy cognac

french 5.5 designers designed 'eternal ice drop' for hennessy cognac.
encapsulated in a drop of glass, the trapped water freezes after a few hours in the freezer
then diffuses its freshness through the glass finding its liquid state. beyond its durable,
lasting and reusable, this object has a significant consequence on the time of tasting a good
cognac, as the drink cools over time. the action of cold tends to break some aromas of cognac.

the eternal ice drop will be on sale from april 2010.

what if somebody swallows it by mistake!
ali   12.12.09
such a thin glass container is dangerous inside a drink
udo   12.13.09
Beautiful but unpractical.
nieplan   12.13.09
Dangerous- relax yourselves! This is an awesome idea!! Just think a step ahead: could be plexi, right?! or some other great- whatever-material!! if it's glass, so be it- not meant for 5year olds like you, & Hennessy is not either, or?!
Twitteresque   12.14.09
juz love its shape
Cantabile   12.14.09
again something stupid guys, ok, just make money with non sens and unpractical design projects, I guess clients and press don't care anymore.
pffffff   12.14.09
why does this need water inside?
It was ice blocks because it melted in your drink, but like this it could be whatever object put from the freezer in the drink. could be just the glass bubble, or inox bubble. don't get it
a   12.14.09
why would you chilll your cognac anyway?
C   12.14.09
Whats up with Ice cubes ? more 5.w*nk
bustergonad   12.14.09
Oh hey! A beautiful object that functions exactly as it's supposed to! Let's all start complaining about how it's stupid and unsafe!

Seriously, you guys.
KG   12.14.09
himmm. and here I thought only an ignorant proletariat would chill a cognac. wonderful. please, put the bottle in the fridge and save us the trouble. and you can always put ice in it; especially here in New York. come on over. where nobody know how to drink cognac anyway. yes, yes, eternal ice. chill your cognacs. and you can drop this in red wine too. come to think of it, this is the age of "ice coffee".
jim   12.15.09
hmmm... as KG said....dont people realise the utter monstrosity of putting ice or chilling such devine liquids as cognac, armagnac and whisky? You are supposed to drink it at room temperature / warmed slightly for the frenchies and with a splash of room temp water for whisky!

Nice way to subvert every single aspect of the origional product *(the spirit) by removing any flavour what so ever by chilling it.... Well done Mr Designer
Pedro   12.16.09
I prefer my Cognac at room temp too, but arent people allowed to enjoy a drink their way? dont be so ignorant

its like teaching ppl how to hold an glas of whine

to be seen as more than just radiators, 'matières à chaud' should be viewed as a landscape in which artificial materials create a certain ambient heat.
