othmar muhlebach: printing your toast

design-aerobics participant, othmar muhlebach recently won second prize at
the berner design award ’09 with his toaster design 'printing your toast'.

the toaster looks similar to a desktop ink-jet printer. sliced bread is stacked and fed into
the design from the top, it's then toasted and ejected onto the base.

The really cool thing here is that you could make it a true "toast printer". Theoretically you could have a grid of small heat cells instead of a single large heat source: You could upload a design, and the grid would apply heat as necessary to toast the design into the bread.
i especially like how the cord holder warp around thing was designed.... too often thats an afterthought....
They look the same and the ZUSE project is much more interesting.
