'the shell' by maarten baas

'the shell' is a metal cabinet that surrounds a wooden interior, it has a faceted inner and outer surface

the cabinet features an irregular shapes of steel welded together
in celebration of baas' nomination, the french 'tools' galerie in paris hosts an extensive
exhibition of his works, on show until 23 january 2010.
born in germany and raised in the netherlands, maarten baas graduated from the design
academy in eindhoven in 2002. the exhibition includes works from his graduation at
design academy eindhoven, the smoke series (2004), treasury (2005), clay (2006),
sculpt (2007), until baas stepped into the role of a film director, exploring different ways
to express time in the video clocks 'real time' (2009).
