urbikes by eduard sentís

the spanish designer eduard sentís presented 'urbike',
the 'fourth generation urban bicycle'. a bike that is characterized by low
maintenance and the absence of any unnecessary element.
urban proof thanks to its robustness - it features a tire that does not puncture...
its components do not follow the standards of conventional bikes
and therefore make them less prone to theft.
it will be 'mass-produced' by modular BPS in february 2010.

Just perfect. This man just created the Perfect Personal Device for Urban Journey! Simply perfect. I just ask to any frustrated designer who offen comment on this website to find a problem to this object. I couldn't

PPVAZ, can't you see that the product you mentioned is just a draft of the one showed here? That one had the only advantage to have a one tube structure. But this one is full of details studied for cities and robustness.

€n realidad el proyecto de bicicletas públicas que se viene dando aqui en Santiago de Chile viene inspirado en Urbikes y me gusta mucho que los componentes esten totalmente fuera de toda logica de una bicicleta convencional.- Felicitaciones.!

wow,couldnt get better

Only problem with this bike, as with a lot of the new ones, the fenders are too short so you get sprayed with water and mud from both wheels when it rains.

The link was a 404 (not found). Front fender insufficient for protection. Tried to check website to see whether there was info in English. Shaft drive with gears interesting in a push bike. Dynamo in front hub as well as brake (both supposition). Concept of "Rentabike" has been tried in a few countries with varied success. The system shown in the first video looked as if it could be more successful in preventing theft d;-)

Too heavy to be perfect, but I like it.

Nice, I wish I understood Spanish. I would like to see more cars that address these same issues. Bare bone simply and easy to fix.
