martin neuhaus: becherlicht

designer martin neuhaus has designed 'becherlicht' a cup light which functions
as a wall luminaire. the light throws three-dimensional colored shadows onto the wall.
neuhaus always wanted the old classic lampshade to have an 'aha!' factor.
who would have thought a cup? a bit of an optical illusion, when the light is in 'off' mode,
it appears to be absolutely nothing.

the project is on show in the 'tatorte - design braucht täter' (crime scenes -
design needs perpetrators) exhibition as part of the passagen program of imm cologne 2010.

please, oh please oh please, let this light have a user design element in it, if it allows you to place anything in that holder, looks pretty small to me, then it is great. If not they have scored a major own goal there.

Im sorry but the point is lost on me. So you get a 'lamp' on the wall, but the thing creating the lamp is a cup and a light? And that looks attractive...eh, no.

molly and J have more money than sense. Go buy yourself a cup and a torch and be done with it
