sylvia dohler: nonwovens

nonwoven textiles applied as a lighting arrangement
image © designboom
at [d3] design talents during imm cologne 2010, sylvia döhler presented her textiles
'nonwovens' whose bizarre ornaments are created by the idiosyncratic style of rubber bands.
the textiles can be used for manifold purposes as interior decoration and sophisticated
lighting arrangements.
'every so often nature serves as the spark of inspiration that lights the fire of creative
designing-processes and it also can be regarded as godfather for the development of
many different textiles. countless times mother nature's colours, patterns and structures
were pictured and copied.
I accept the challenge of trying to link nature and textiles in a way that nature itself designs
the textiles due to its own unique creative power. I would like to reveal the original primary
patterns of nature and fix them permanently in the textiles.
