'united crystal woods' is the new collection by dutch designermarcel wanders 
for french crystal company baccarat. the collection was presented at maison et objet 2010.


'l'ivresse des bois' (drunken woods)

wanders is a self-professed hedonist of great wines. working with an oenologist,
he has designed 'l'ivresse des bois', a series of glasses consisting of a burgundy,
bordeaux and champagne glasses. he has added some humor to the turned
crystal stems by including his favorite seal - the famous clown with the nose that pops up
in much of wanders' collections. here it has become a motif for the stems and stopper in
baccarat red or clear crystal. he has also designed two carafes, including a decanter.

'les rois de la forêt' (kings of the forest) is a series of four vases.
they come on classic solid brass bases of 'golden', 'dark bronze', 'gilded silver' or 'chromium'.
the vessels have deeply cut patterns which contrast to the geometric, diamond and square shapes
of their bases.

the 'la forêt des songes' series are clear crystal canlesticks and vases made from deeply cut crystal
is combined with the lightness and intricacy of filigree, linked to his own country's traditions -
referencing dutch lace which he often uses. a play in contrasts, the solid deeply cut crystal bases,
candlesticks and engraved budvases rae available in a series or modules of elements (sets of 5) -
single candlesticks, vases or votives which can be attached to a single base.

limited edition of 100

of the collection, this is the one design that is devoted to the legendary animals of the forest.
large deers appear as dream-like images at the edge of the forest, metamorphosing into candelabras.
the 'les esprits des bois' (spirits of the woods) line features three different sizes, from 90 cm
for the small dear up to two meters for the tallest one. the slender forms are made from a square,
polished stainless steel, topped with engraved, clear crystal candleholders, voltive holders or vases.
