showcased as an installation at imm cologne 2010, 'commodulate' is a booth generator developed
by an interdisciplinary team of students enrolled in the interior architecture, intermedia design
and architecture department at the fachhochschule trier in germany. with the aid of
a computer-program written in rhinoscript / visual basic, parameters of a required exhibition
space are processed and evaluated to then manifest itself into a physical booth.
while the design tools follows a high tech approach, the building of the booth is contrasted
with a low tech solution. using recyclable pizza boxes, the built stands become aesthetically
exaggerated as the use of cardboard boxes results in obvious shifts and deformations.

??? so what?

a script orders 5 students to place boxes around...wtf..?
they must really need some advertising at fh trier...
Hasko   01.28.10
Interesting what they could do with those boxes.
SwissVoice   01.28.10
Oh, come on.
what is the cost of those new produced boxes? why should these be produced? this is very expensive and absloutely not sustainable. to much play with no means.

as for education, i agree, bot for advertising and showing? i have doubts.
Chris   01.28.10
Looks like fun.

@Chris The budget for your projects must be next to nil as pizza boxes are particularly cheap (and much cheaper then ad space, so kudos if that was the intent). As for too much play with no means; I suppose everybody not working on something utilitarian should just quit, huh?
