nieuwe heren: beauty and geek

'the beauty and the geek' made by netherland studio nieuwe heren is a hybrid product
combining two very different disciplines: the beauty of the fashion world and the geeky
side of technology.

it was a part of the designer's fair - an offsite program of 'passagen' during imm cologne 2010.

it uses a pair jeans modified to accommodate the added technology of keyboard and mouse.
the right back pocket is custom-shaped to cover the mouse which is attached to the jeans
via an elastic wire. 'the beauty and the geek' has a wireless USB connection that allows
the user to move around while still maintaining control with the keyboard and mouse.
speakers are also added to the knees giving the user the freedom to listen to music.

to further extend the theme of technology, the seams are made to look
like lines on a print board.

Cool!

There is a keyboard on the laptop in front of him, but chooses to type on his crotch, I can totally understand. Besides the numerous amazing benefits, do I have the freedom to wash my pair of jeans after say, a vigorous session of typing?

@Pardon, Haha lol

i guess a better way may be to design it as an additional piece which can be easily attached to multiple clothes. similar to how ppl use the apron,as it allows ppl to work and move around at the same time.....and the washing problem can be minimized...but of coz in this way there's no more fusion of fashion beauty and technology.....anywayz fashion is sometimes a luxury...

old, saw this on geekologie.com a LONG time ago. and not very practical on top of that. Laptop keyboards are cumbersome enough as it is.
