warrenoffice myrkr chair

'myrkr chair'

we received 'myrkr chair' created by WORD (warren office for research and design)
and wish to share it with you. the seat sculpture is conceived under the idea that beauty
is not only found in objects themselves but in the pattern of their shadows,
both light and dark which it provides.
this lounge chair is made from a single laser cut sheet of 12mm plywood and 144 dowels
with no metal connections.
it has been dipped in black aniline dye and finished with lacquer.

'myrkr chair' is in use at the page gallery exhibition at the guggenheim gallery
of chapman university as part of the reading area where visitors can examine artist's books.

The third image is quite nice. I'd like to give it a sit!
bsutton   02.02.10
original, bold & elegant. the dynamic interplay of the shadows & light makes me want to see the look that more than one of these chairs in a space would create.
hogita   02.02.10
The finish is very nice.

taddeus bukowski   02.02.10
fantastic design - - i like the simplicity of the form, and that it behaves as an object of art, as well - - the shadow patterns changing at different times of day
m   02.02.10
beautiful. I'll take two please..for my equally amazing future fantasy home. That way, I can luxuriously in one and view the other...or you can come and visit and we can each sit in one.
anamaria   02.02.10

great work. simple and elegant.
rich   02.02.10
incredible depth, rather than being simply an object in space, the chair affects the space around it.
