'sempé w103' with solid base

french designer inga sempé has collaborated with swedish company wästberg on 'sempé w103',
a table lamp presented at the stockholm furniture fair 2010, which runs from february 9th to 13th, 2010.

this elementary lamp is meant to be as simple and as solid as a nail or a push pin.
following traditional tool machine lighting, its mechanics are sturdy and long-lasting,
with the aim of wanting to improve classical industrial elements. for example,
the base clamp of the lamp is inverted, providing a more functional way of using it.
the lamp mixes a solidness with lightness with a thin, steel beam that joins the shade
and the cast iron base or clamp of the lamp together - a contrasting heavy cast foot
to a delicate shade. the silhouette and the various positions bring to mind the image
of a small umbrella. each lamp has three positions which it can be adjusted to.
it is illuminated by 8W LEDs, using the entire hand-spun aluminum shade as a reflector.
