'heavy/light' is a hanging light fixture made using cast-iron with halogen and xenon lighting by designer
dieter janssen. the project began as an investigation into modelling cloud formations, initially for the
design of a possible roof structure on a private residence janssen was working on. however the
undulating surface seemed ideal for a light fixture. janssen molded the surface using cast iron, embedding
small halogen and xenon lights within its folds. the light bounces of the surface reflecting in various
directions. the final design is 61cm long and about 30cm wide and requires eight anchoring points to
support the weight of the heavy iron.

I think I'm on my own here, but I really like it.
iron is such a lovely material, tactile and textured, heavy and oh so black. good to see it floating like the clouds he wanted
