'robo' is a chair design developed by industrial designer luca nichetto for the swedish
company offecct. the theme of dismantlement is the basis of the chair's concept.
nichetto was inspired by icelandic singer bjork's music video 'all is full of love' directed by
chris cunningham whereby the main protagonist are robots that take on human characteristics.

'I find the idea that a robot could become a living being really exciting, and so I imagined
what would happen if the same principle were applied to the design of a chair.

'robo chair' is currently presented at the stockholm furniture fair 2010.

the chair is transported in a box as small as 50cm X 50cm x 20cm thanks to the individual
parts of the chair which can be disassembled and, thus, requires much less packaging.
material choices of plywood and acrylic felt made of recycled plastic bottles were also used
as a conscious effort to make the design more earth friendly.

Looks like it has an exoskeleton...awesome. We need more design like this in the world. Couldn't find a price but if this could retail under 50 it would be a beautiful thing.

acrylic felt made from polyethylene terephthalate? ha.

Nice chair though. Bent plywood on a surface that complex is something you don't see too often.
