'ru' chair by american-born and stockholm-based industrial designer shane schneck
for danish company hay was presented at maison et objet 2010 and stockholm furniture fair 2010.
gathered from references of chairs in schools, lunch rooms and auditoriums, 'ru' is a hybrid
of our collective memory and functionality. it is a wooden chair that gains its strength
by cross laminating layers in the seat. this method allows for a cantilevered surface
and a more robust structure. unlike conventional chairs, it is designed without the front
legs allowing it be stacked on tables for easy cleaning.
