the emotion lab: safe bike rack

'safe' bike rack
barcelona's industrial design studio the emotion lab has designed 'safe', a bike rack that promises
to be a more secure alternative in parking your bike. the form of 'safe' follows closely to that
of one of the oldest symbols of security, the padlock. unlike many other bike racks, users can
have confidence that 'safe' will not scratch their bikes. finally, in releasing these designs in public
spaces, emotion lab hopes to encourage people to choose a more sustainable method of transport.

They sure beat some of the ugly metal ones we have here in London! I like them.
David 02.25.10
sure does not fit in the given context

Are you guys serious, what's the benefit of copying literally a padlock to a bike rack, my opinion "useless styling" hope you can do better.
mtwb 02.25.10
Looks to me like it performs it's function well. I'm sick of getting my back scratched up plus I can imagine it would act as good signage too. Plus on this one, I can lock up both wheels. It's a winner to me.
fred fixie 02.26.10
adopting the form of another safety lock is not going to add anything to the protection of your bike. this is just phsyco babble. go back to your classroom..!

I'd love a set of these out the front of my office building! Where can I buy them?
Roger Davies 02.26.10
I didn't understand to work method.
How do it lock bicycle?

I'm with you m. Design doesn't show how the locking function works. I too would like to know d;-)

FFS WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS?
james 02.27.10
This looks great. Why has no one thought of this idea before? It's a winner.
