softlab: chromaesthesiae

'chromaesthesiae'

'chromaesthesiae' designed by new york-based softlab (jose gonzalez and michael szivos),
is an installation which investigates our spatial and chromatic perception of space.
using modularity as a core modality, softlab generates a complexity from repetitive forms,
allowing for rapid expansion or contraction of each piece created. the ability to adapt,
change, and grow conceptually underpins their body of work. this customizable installation
is made from everyday objects which have been re-purposed and recombined.
the trumpet shaped forms are made from laser cut paper structures held together with binder clips.
the effect seen from the underside looking up, is a quilted vision of vibrant color.
'chromaesthesiae' is on show at devotion gallery, brooklyn until april 5th, 2010.
