michiel cornelissen: pencil icosahedron

dutch designer michiel cornelissen created this DIY kit that allows users to assemble their favourite
pencils into a large icosahedron. the kit comes with small connector pieces that slot onto the pencils
creating a form that is 15cm or 30 cm in diameter. the connector has five slots arranged in a star
formation around a hollow center, providing the structure to the geometric form. the final assembled
form uses 30 pencils and can be used as a decorative object or turned into a lampshape. the design fits
standard hexagonal pencils allowing users to make use of those spare pencils lying in their desk .
