aguila design: 'breaking' marine vehicle

'breaking' water vehicle
belgian designer jan gielens of spain-based aguila design has developed 'breaking',
a water vehicle which responds to both economic demands and new technological advances
in the area of water sports. 'breaking' is known for its manoeuvrability, having the ability
to take full turns at high speeds, and can stop quickly and suddenly without overshooting,
jerking, rolling, reeling over or capsizing.
the manipulation of gravity used within the structure of the vehicle allows for a hydrodynamic
effect on the keel (the 'fin' below the marine craft), aerodynamic forces affecting the profile
of the wing and the propulsion of the movable air propeller on the dynamic centre,
which has a favorable influence on the energy consumption of the propulsion motor.
'it concerns a physical electro-magnetic gravity that shows an electronic behaviour
and a dynamic patron in an interaction between and in space and matter of stability
and motion. to mobilize these powers and to form them in their will to a dynamic stability
in a creation of marine vehicles.' - jans gielens

the body of 'breaking' consists of an aerodynamically designed wing conceived in a way
which allows it to skim / sit on rather than in the water, avoiding the 'beating on the waves'
characteristic which is typical of racing boats. the fin's shape has been calculated and designed
so resistance in the water is reduced to a minimum when the craft is in motion.
when the craft accelerates, the fin is subject to water pressure. this results in the front end
of the vehicle being lifted out of the water. with further acceleration, the rear is also lifted off the water.
propulsion is obtained by use of a hirth 307 motor designed and tested for the light
aircraft industry.
it is equipped with a specially designed propeller which is 80 cm. the
pressure of the propeller
is directed towards the natural centre of the
aircraft, which allows for correct steering.
all forces that have an
impact on the vehicle are concentrated at a spot, which is situated
very low.
the characteristic feature of the propeller's angle is the
fact that the pressure lines intersect,
and that the position of this
intersection can be varied while the vehicle is in motion.
because of
the design and special configuration of the propulsion, energy
consumption
is considerably reduced, the vehicle can be steered with
great precision, stopped very quickly
and is subject to very little
resistance when in movement. steering is done by orienting the
propeller
and differentiating the number of revolutions.
when turning, centrifugal forces have no impact on the craft, since the natural centre
is continuously kept under control. there is only a slight inclination of the wing tips
and steering is precise even under turning conditions. with a small turning circle,
the water craft is able to turn on its own axis.

technical details
width: 2,99 m
length: 3,66 m
motor type: hirsch 307
air propeller: 80 cm
2 tanks fitted to the craft
category: sport boat
