oscar diaz: glueline

'glueline' by oscar diaz

london designer oscar diaz has created 'glueline', a shopping bag for foodmarketo
held during milan design week 2010. the bag is made using a standard 32mm wide strap
coated at the overlapping points with rubber. it works as both, the bonding and decorative
element, holding the strap together and emphasizing the connecting areas. the handle
is also coated with rubber to improve the grip.  each bag is handcrafted and built as
a wireframe.

joints are emphasized in grey

foodmarketo is a pop up shop which will also hold cooking workshops that will take
place at kaleidoscope project space, via masera, milan.

It is not bad, but the idea is very similar as the Structural bag, designed by Dzmitry Samal for Louis Viutton:

I agree. the mesh isn't tight enough. and you will lose small things.

It is similar to this too.

..straps have been used in baskets for a while now.
it is rather the way of connecting them that is different.

Keys, wallet, phone, camera, and pretty much everything else not large or in another bag is on the floor.

Ok first of all I'm all about expression and all that, and I like it... but as a bag, it totally sucks. It does NOTHING a plain ol' bag can't do besides spill all your crap and forfeit all your privacy. I can't help but think that FIRST it has to be a bag and THEN it can be something else.
Jacob   04.07.10
not going to work
Marina Lin   04.08.10
agree with the rest narcisistic nonsense....
kg   04.08.10
if I was going to save a dolphin I'd use this as a harness, but it's meant to be a bag, defined by carrying things in an enclosed space, which it doesn't. God only knows how the french stick stays in there. Go back to design shool Oscar!
