diego chilò for venini

'asolo' by diego chilo
italian artist and designer diego chilo has collaborated with glass maker venini to
produce 'nel vetro c'e', a new collection of 10 vases. the colorful pieces are hand blown,
each displaying individual characteristics. metal mesh and copper rings are embedded
on the surface of some of the vases.
'nel vetro c'e' is currently on display at galleria galica during milan design week 2010.

copper rings are freely set during the processing of the glass master that collects
the glass thanks to a fast rotating motion. they are previously heated so that the coupling
with the hot glass is as safe as possible.

'oriente lattimo'
small copper rings generate and mark a reddish colour graphic into the vase's surface;
it is the result of a thermal reaction, adding charm to the hand work.

a blown volume: more layers, one on the other perfectly matching. the colours fade
and suggest the chromatic research that is part of the design. the low relief of the edges,
wavy lines of various glass paste, is the most visible signature of the manual of this process.
