swedish design group front has designed ‘wood chair’ for moroso. the aesthetic of the armchair draws on the classic wooden beaded seat covers used by drivers who are looking for a certain kind of comfort when sitting in their cars. combined with research on how embroiderers in africa weave their beads, the result is a chair where a woven covering of natural birch wood balls of varying sizes which fill the seat, almost as if to look like it is overflowing with foaming soap bubbles. ‘wood chair’ explores the language of well-being that goes beyond an ergonomic / technical approach. aesthetics and functionality are combined to form a harmonious, rounded whole, in which the structure and form of the armchair are cozy and comfortable.
