toshiba and suppose design office at milan design week 2010

'luceste' - toshiba LED lighting

'luceste' = luce (light) + celeste (of sky) was an installation created with toshiba LED lighting
by japanese architect makoto tanijiri of suppose design office, on display during milan design week 2010.
the installation explored the beauty of light itself.
a ceiling-mounted LED installation diffuses lighting through a veil of swirling mist (clouds)
to suffuse the exhibition space with a spectrum of growing color.
visitors got to experience toshiba's lighting and are challenged to, .
.. perhaps change their preconceived conceptions of LEDs.
visitors engaged in this interactive installation: by whistling clouds moved, by clapping hands
the color of light changed.

visitors were surrounded by gentle light once they entered the space, in which colors continually changed as clouds moved over the ceiling

suppose design office: kiddy shonan C/X nurse
composed of volumes reminiscent of the archetypal house, each 'dwelling' functions as a classroom or playroom, their arrangement being much like that of a small neighbourhood.
suppose design office: house in saka
enclosed with a windowless facade, the exterior of this dwelling discreetly lifts from the ground to introduce natural light into the living spaces.
suppose design office: house in takaya
contained within a discreet rectangular volume, a ground layer of sand transitions from the entry yard to the interior of the home, dissolving the distinction between the external and internal environments.

claesson koivisto rune: portico
'portico' furniture designs draw from the architectural structure of ancient roman aqueduct arches, paying tribute to their rhythmic repetition and geometry.

initially conceived through the study of cells and brain synapsis, 'sinapsi' offers a form that can be repeated and flexibly re-rearranged for different user needs.
