dutch design duo scholten & baijings 'the amsterdam armoire' is now in production for
british design and manufacturing company established & sons.
presented during milan design week 2010, the wardrobe unit is a typically traditional dutch design
taking on a contemporary form. it consists of two upper doors, a drawer over the full weight
and two lower doors.
scholten & baijings trademark grid pattern is found on the front of the armoire which is made from
high pressure laminate (HPL) sheet. the unit's front legs are two round feet made of hand-blown
glass
in light pink. featured inside each of the doors, is a black and white picture of a still life.
these six images were made in collaboration with dutch photographers maurice scheltens
and liesbeth abbenes, and depict the couple's work.
