massimo roj - progetto CMR: caohejing hi-tech park

'caohejing hi tech park' by massimo roj of progetto CMR

italian architect massimo roj of progetto CMR has designed 'caohejing hi tech park' in shanghai,
china. with an area of 170,000 square meters it is located west of the city. the project involves
the construction of a commercial district which will house offices,  a residential complex, hotel,
a research center and related services.

special attention to the environment has been taken into consideration  in the design incorporating
plants in order to reduce and save energy. the large amount of green space is the heart of the project.
to lower the density of visible construction and significantly increase the area devoted
to green, the project foresees the creation of 'hills' below  buildings which require less direct light,
such as businesses, shopping centers, boutiques, sporting centers, restaurants, bars and a lobby.

every building in the project is associated with a material. the water element from
which everything is born, is the core around which  all business revolve around including
restaurants, bars, shopping areas and a gym. the housing and hotel functions are rock layers,
the office towers are precious gems that emerge from the soil and finally the nature,
represented by a forest of bamboo, is the large building for a center for pharmaceutical research.
