archiplein: cerv municipal road center

'cerv' traffic assistance building
chinese-swiss archiplein is a young architecture office (feng yang, fang weiyi,
francis jacquier, marlene leroux and mingbo wang), which focuses on architectural
production with a methodological observation of the city and nature - a way to see in
reality a source of expression and creation. they work with local consideration,
and with the reinterpretation of classic chinese culture, confronting this modernity
with an approach that considers the human environment and ensures a sustainable city.
every driver is able to appreciate this vast edifice bordering the road.
archiplein's project proposal 'cerv' is a municipal road center infrastructure for
nyon, switzerland which brings an awareness of the contemporary needs of architecture
to be modest and respectful towards the environment. this doesn't mean architecture
should be discreet and banal. rather the contrary - expressed without restraint.
'cerv' is constructed through the development of mud with a sufficient thickness making it
structurally stable and strong enough. the set-up of the building provides parking spaces
below the ground with service areas above ground. the purpose of the building is to eliminate
the nuisance of the road, acting as a traffic assistance building.
