beata konarska and pawel konarski of warsaw art-curator collective konarska-konarski
have created a public installation at the university of warsaw library. 'the house on the tree'
consists of two parts: one house is perched on one of the library's trees, while another
is hanging in the library's main atrium. a very light material called forex boards were used
to ensure that the tree does not get damaged with the weight of the house. the aim of
the project was to raise awareness about sustainable development, a topic which is not
widely discussed in poland.

If sustainable architecture is not discussed in PL then why did the Foundation for Polish Science just award FAAB.pl first prize for the renovation of their headquarters? http://www.fnp.org.pl/o_fundacji/konkurs_architektoniczny/wyniki_konkursu

most likely the buildings put up during communism are more sustainable then anything put up in the west

the wild west; with is sealed tight windows and air conditioning all year round. i think sustainable was in Europe/Poland long before "sustainable" was even a term -- long before it was even cool to be ECO it was just cheaper.
