‘cultuurforum spui’ – a new dance and music center by RAU all images courtesy RAU

dutch firm RAU have been selected as one of the three finalists for the ‘cultuurforum spui’ a new dance and music center on the spuiplein in the hague, the netherlands.

in the project, the nederlands dans theater, residentie orkest and royal conservatoire the 40 000m2 dance and music centre is the home of the royal conservatory, dutch dance theater, the hague philharmonic and the stichting foundation, and the new building will be built on spui square. dance, opera, musicals, family shows, concerts, theater, classical music and jazz will be held in the new facilities. the two other finalists are zaha hadid architects and neutelings riedijk architects.

currently it is still uncertain whether the new dance and music centre will actually be built. the new municipal executive still hasn’t appropriated the money for the complex. a decision will be made at the end of 2010.
