'cabinet home' by norwegian office rintala eggertsson architects is a temporary wooden shelter
based on the idea of living stripped down to its simplest form. constructed next to the MAXXI
museum in rome, italy, the temporary structure aims to achieve a higher quality of life with
less square meters by means of simple, ecological materials.

the dwelling is formed as a set of three, large steps: the ground floor features a 10 m2 garden
and an indoor kitchen/dining area. the second level, outfitted with a built in bench, offers
a living space as well as a terrace that overlooks the entrance and garden. the single bedroom
is reserved for the third level, which features a skylight and a view of the sky. the plywood
used in the interior was treated with a dark stain, creating a shadowed space that would rest
the eyes and body. the whole house can be detached into three container-sized units and transported
with standard road transportation.
