giuseppe amato: sixtytons

'sixtytons' by giuseppe amato

italian designer and furniture maker giuseppe amato will be presenting the second installation
of his 'unexpected homes' series at the detour / mapping contemporary venice exhibition.
curated by raffaella guidobono in partnership with moleskine, the event is conceived as
an accompanying show to the 12th international architecture biennale in venice this year.
the architects and artists involved have been asked to draw a conceptual landscape of
the future venice by finding, interpreting and portraying the signs of contemporaneity
which are already present today.

'sixtytons' is an exercise in pragmatic architecture: the wooden shelter is designed to react
to the changing needs of light, acoustic, private space and public space while respecting
the functionality and dimension of the dwelling. resembling a watchtower or an outpost,
the oak model circumscribes a perfect square with a solid, massive body wrapped in
a skin of venetian blinds. for the design of the joints, techniques found in the katsura
imperial villa were studied and reinterpreted.

If I may give advice, try to learn the culture in my country Indonesia, especially about the architecture.
