as part of their ongoing series, diesel denim gallery in aoyama, tokyo is currently presenting ‘rolls’, an installation
by chikara ohno from the japanese design studio sinato. ‘rolls’ consists of a single length of aluminum sheet thread
throughout the space, forming large rolls on the ground at intervals. these rolls are installed on the ground and
begin to unwind up towards the ceiling and into the next one. the flat rolls that make up the majority of the piece
are covered in glass, allowing the installation to do double duty as display space for diesel merchandise. while the
installation is only on show for a limited time, a closing date has not yet been set.
