paul raff studio: the biosphere sustainability centre

located in gananoque, canada, the biosphere sustainability centre designed by paul raff studio is transforming an existing
brownfield site into a new activity hub dedicated to promoting renewable energy technologies. the 11,508 m2 is located
near the thousand islands, a unesco world heritage site, and is comprised of exhibition and conference facilities,
artisan studios, market retail and office space.  the design of the building will serve as a demonstration of the centre’s
mission incorporating renewable energy sourced from water, solar, wind and biomass. two green roofs with walk-out
gardens will sit atop the project while a walk-through bio wall will be located inside to clean and recycle the air.
above all this is a large canopy that provides shade, while also collecting sunlight through solar panel and collecting
rain water.
