dutch architects staal christensen has sent in images of their project ‘waving grass’ – a facade for the newly opened site for waste collection of the municipality of veldhoven in the new industrial area of habraken.

there was a narrow strip of 1.20 meters width available to design a facade of 60 meters long and 12 meters high. it had to be very well secured to the ground because braces and tethering were not possible. only by the use of piles that such a narrow but strong foundation could be created.

the posts are a third of their length driven into the ground and stick out. made of green monochrome colored concrete they stand like oversized magnum grassroots along the street.
