american firm rosales + partners won the competition to design the new north coast harbor pedestrian bridge in cleveland, ohio. the movable footbridge will be located on voinovich park along cleveland’s waterfront next to city landmarks like the rock and roll hall of fame + museum and the great lakes science center. the unique, curved bridge consists of a single bascule non-symmetrical span that is supported by an elegant steel semi-arch. a pair of back stay cables will be used to open the bridge on a regular basis during part of the year. the bridge has a main span of 145 feet and a width of 12 feet. the new link will complete a walking loop along the waterfront that will help activate the area and provide a secondary means of access to the adjacent park. the new iconic bridge willbecome a visually compelling addition to the cityscape marking its location from a distance with its sculptural quality.
