+31 architects: water villa omval

dutch +31 architects recently completed 'water villa omval', which has a wide view over the amstel.
the villa has two spacious floors and a roof terrace. the roof terrace was made possible by lowering
the bedroom half a story. this also allowed for a logical transition from the ground floor to the basement.
to provide daylight into the basement a large void has been made, which connects the two floors together.
the light in the guest room, also located in the basement, is through a 'cuckoo window' positioned beneath
the fireplace in the living room so there is no space lost.the split-level principle of the watervilla is
accentuated by the round design of the facade.

what about intimacy? there's no blinds or courtains. Good architectural project, but does people live in there?

as a former houseboat dweller in Florida, and a fan of floating homes ever since ....this one is beautifully designed. Breathtaking !

For those worrying about curtains:
"if you got it, flaunt it "

I lived in the Netherlands for a while and in general Dutch people donīt have courtains in their homes. So for them I guess privacy is a different matter, I was surprised to see people dining and in their home without any need to be separated from the exterior and by the way that makes a city quite much safer.
