the 'hermit's house' by daniel venneman and mark van der net of
the cloud collective, is a garden retreat that serves as a lounge,
guest room and exhibition space. with its jagged shape it distinguishes
itself from its surroundings while the interior remains usable, flexible
and intimate. with a kaleidoscopic experience of light, reflection and
views the design not only offers a rich inner world but also a fresh look
at the wide area.

the design was partially prefabricated and then transported to it's
location, a garden located in the floodplains of the ijssel river near
deventer in the netherlands.

the project was constructed with a minimal amount of wooden, built out
of panels that are prefabricated. as the standard dimensions formed
the starting point of the design, material use, transportability
and its economy were optimized.
