turkish architect nevzat sayin has designed a new activity center in connection with
the sakip sabanci museum in istanbul, turkey. 'the seed', which has been shortlisted
under the cultural category at this year's world architecture festival, seats up to
330 people and performs as a conference, congress and concert hall.

the 1700 m2 design acts as an intervention to the sakip sabanci museum, built partly
underground and protruding out to the lobby level. clad in a bright yellow finish,
the addition has a strong presence in the otherwise linear space, yet does not change
the overall architectural form of the building.

the hall features faceted surfaces that are reflective and multi-coloured, resulting in
a kaleidoscopic effect for the interior space. to compliment this appearance,
300 spira chairs from lammhults were chosen to outfit 'the seed'.
