olson kundig architects: gethsemane lutheran church

this retrospective exhibition of the 45 year career of seattle-based architect jim olsen will be featuring a range of his renowned residential projects at washington state university in pullman, washington.

the site is a former horse stable that was converted into a seven-story loft building with five living units and ground-level retail space.

the 12,860 square foot office addition adjoins the existing heavy industrial manufacturing plant of T bailey. all steel fabrication and erection takes place in the plant adjoining the project.

this abandoned church in utrecht, netherlands has been given a renewed purpose as a single family residence, producing airy rooms with vaulted ceilings and enclosed with original stained glass windows.

by arranging its secondary programs around the central chapel, the design provides a buffering system for heat and sound insulation of the church.
