stockholm-based studio, visiondivision (anders berensson and ulf mejergren) has completed a proposal for ‘a room for london‘, a competition organized by living architecture to design a temporary hotel room on top of the queen elizabeth hall next to the thames river for the olympic year of 2012. ‘heaven’, a room for one to two guests, is devoid of conventional walls and features a blanket of clouds that provides a sense of escape from the city below. the entry concept was presented as a comic book.

upon arrival, guests are given a key, a remote control, a falconer glove and meat. the remote has the capacity to control the quality and color of the clouds while also offering numerous services such as food delivery. a singular bed on the roof top houses a nest for tame falcons, intended to amplify the feeling of living in the sky among the birds. necessary facilities are in the open, including the toilet and a freestanding shower, keeping the guests directly connected to the scenography. the space becomes a place for contemplation and meditation. all visitors are encouraged to share their visual and written experiences of their stay.

during colder seasons, the drapes sheltering the bed serve as insulation, preventing the heat released from the bed platform from escaping. a warm winter coat is also available to the guests.
