japanese architecture firm suppose design office has completed 'house in ekoda',
a three-storey renovation project in hiroshima. featuring a rooftop bathroom encased
in glass, the design improves the quality and atmosphere of the old building while
expanding the sense of space for each of the floors.

a practice of editing by taking away instead of adding new components, the project considered carefully what parts of the building should be changed and how: the continuous footing in the foundation caused problems with humidity so the first floor received a new surface; the ceiling of the second floor was removed to expose the steel truss system; external wall insulation was added to the third to further waterproof the interior.

the third floor unit features a partially private bedroom constructed out of light wood with
cut-out windows, serving as a playful architectural object within the domestic environment.
