west 8 is a new 2.5-acre urban space in the cultural and civic heart of miami beach.
sitting adjacent to the new frank gehry-designed new world center, the multi-use space
serves as both an oasis in the city and a gathering place for social events.

pergolas
aiming to act as an open platform for the cross-pollination of art, technology and landscape,
the new lincoln park is flexible in its conception, featuring interlacing pathways of
changing widths that circulate in a mosaic-like network. the route encourages visitors
and locals to experience the changing views of both the park and the new center.
sculptural metal pergolas serve as gateways to the public space, the forms of which are
influenced by fluffy cumulus clouds often found in miami beach. the lighting and
audio equipment of the park are outfitted with a similar structure to blend in with
the identity of the project. directly interacting with the new world center, a projection tower
uses the building's facade surface to feature video work by artists and to host outdoor movie nights.
