czech republic-based practice H3T architects (vitek simek, stepan rehor, matej velek) has sent us
images of 'bike sauna', a transportable sweat lodge pulled by a tandem bicycle. constructed out of
light and durable materials for maximum ease of use, the project serves as a new and unconventional
social tool that interacts with its immediate site.

exterior view

able to accommodate up to six people, the sauna is encased in a cylindrical volume clad in
translucent panels. featuring a fully-functioning fireplace that expels smoke through a tiny
protruding chimney, the interior is outfitted with a set of wooden benches. access is provided
through a slit on an elastic membrane which keeps in the heat during use. the prototype is
a platform for testing ideas, exploring the possibilities of portable architecture with
a clear social function.

Lovely innovation!
I'm wondering how 2 people can drag this mini-sauna?

even with all that nice design they have to stabilize it with blocks of wood? seems like they should have considered that.

Thank you all for your comments.

First, even one rider can drag the bike sauna behind her/his bike. You don't have to have a tandem bike; although, it's far easier.

Second, we worked with very limited time span (about a week or so and even more limited amount of money that regrettably haven't covered neither our work, nor all expenses.) what is actually described in detail in the official press release that was provided to DB but not published here.

Anyway, some improvements were made since the "wild beta testing phase" is over and some are still awaiting us. Our Bike Sauna is a prototype. Don't forget that, please.

Take it easy and ejoy! Your h3t team.

Oh, thank Gawd.
I was wondering when someone was going to save us all from being without the Sauna.
Have these people nothing better to do than come up with this completely ridiculous fabrication? Don't they have some no-deposit bottles to return?
I hope the bi-products of the plastic shell make them ill.

Cool design guys! Maybe the addition of a drop down kickstand in the back would add some stability when climbing in and out of the back door, and maybe something similar upfront.

Some of the people commenting on here need to chill out and lighten up a little. They probably could use a sauna the most.
