'3beruit', foster and partners' first development in lebanon, has broken ground. housing retail and residential programs
the sustainable scheme, located in beirut's central district, is informed by both the site and the culture of the city.

staggering and rectilinear, the design pays particular attention to the public realm and accessible green space,
which is peppered at street level alongside pedestrian throughways. organized around promenades and plazas,
the development looks to connect the historic city center to the harbor at the mediterranean sea.

conservative but distinctive in form, the structure features a south facade which gently steps down to integrate into
the surrounding urban fabric. shops, galleries and restaurants are located in the base of the unit, whose volumes relate
to the scale at street level.

terraces and green roofs - the first in the city - are positioned throughout the tiered building, marking the changes in
elevation and integrating interior and exterior environments.

luke fox, a senior partner and design director at foster + partners, states:
I am delighted that our first project in lebanon is under construction. 3beirut will be a significant addition to the city
and I look forward to it contributing to the emerging success of beirut as an international destination.”

what is the sense to build these fashionable buildings of star architects if hezbollah ,syria, israel and iran can bombard all country in 1second? who cares about these projects if few meters away streets doesnt have normal pavements, public spaces for general people.... first do something for normal people later build skysrypers for sheikhs
