madrid based andrés jaque architects has developed 'sweet parliament home' for the gwangju design biennale 2011. taking place in south korea, the pavilion is designed as a direct response to the current socio-political environment.

opposing the preconceived notion that the home is a space of tranquility and removal from the plights of daily life, this exhibition introduces visitors into a charged and stimulating atmosphere. fully engrossed with social tribulations, the home becomes a ground for learning to cope and confront these issues instead of retreating from them. the form is a result of five years of research and generates the ideal gathering space for thought provoking exchanges.

consisting of four loosely defined areas, the pavilion is a direct response to the current phenomenon in seoul where the concept of domesticity is spatially fragmented and constantly in a state of flux.

homes are arenas in which the political currently finds opportunities to happen. 'fray foam home' is the restitution of the fragmented spaces in which a specific home - with its comforts and supplies are constructed.
