CO's public summer pavilion for superfront brooklyn is now open.
entitled 'weightless pull', the playful installation temporarily transforms an empty passageway
between two warehouse buildings in industry city brooklyn, new york.

overall view

made from nylon rope and plastic, the design seeks to celebrate the monumental proportions
of the space stretching 80 feet high and 30 feet wide. driven by the conditions of the site,
the installation is both an experiment of scale and field.

detail

a large permeable wall is suspended and tethered amid the perimeter structures, its long linear form
and repetition emphasizing the verticality of the environment. capturing the power of the wind in
force and sound, the sculptural installation is at once strong and ephemeral.

blowing in the wind

soaring overhead at different heights, the free and billowing ribbons create a dynamic and experiential
volume dictated by wind and gravity.

(right) detail of the knots and ribbons

18,000 linear feet of plastic wrap tied in over 600 different knots become the main element of the
vertical field. hung from a catenary curve and resolving into an arch at the ground level,
each rope was pre-fabricated based on a predefined geometry.

the nylon ropes are anchored to the ground to stabilize the installation

'weightless pull' will be on display until august 28 in sunset park, brooklyn.
