portuguese architects jose carlos cruz, ines guedes, miguel santos and antonio cruz have submitted the winning entry for
the [AC-CA] competition to propose an information pavilion for the 2012 olympic games in london, england. an iconic event
symbol in the center of trafalgar square, the transient structure's blue, yellow, black, green, red and white crown is inclined
to allow visibility from across the expansive urban space. the perimeter is raised in several areas encouraging visitors to enter
freely through its permeable border. once inside, individuals meander through the five circular spaces simulating olympic
rings and enjoy panoramic outward views of the people, fountains and buildings from the lounge areas.
the curved mirrored facade reflects the scenery beyond presenting a backdrop for photographs with continuous activity and
energetic celebrations between visitors. inside the pavilion, touch screens and interactive maps powered by the roof's solar
panels provide a user friendly interface to acquire information. video projections on the interior and exterior walls maintain an
updated stream of the current and transpired events for those in the area.

explores filling the square with large tethered balloons which project
videos of current events generating a festive and lively atmosphere.
made from recycled plastic, these units will harness solar power to
illuminate the square at night, play music, breath in pollution
and release oxygenated air purifying the bustling square for the duration of the games.

in elevation between the upper and lower level of the square. visitors
may walk along the inclined track and see the square from a
raised vantage point. the material consists of rubber soles from nike shoes enforcing the events commitment to sustainability.
