american practice inFORM studio has completed the 'bagley pedestrian bridge' located in detroit, michigan. the winning proposal
of a competition driven initiative addresses inhabitants of communities located in the southwest of detroit whom have been divided
and isolated from a rift generated by highway implementation. this new infrastructure provides a safe means of crossing the congested
areas providing an elevated connection to the vehicular bridge which leads to windsor, ontario, canada. 

the comprehensive design contains 41,000 square feet of public plaza with additional surrounding landscape and artwork.
a new stage for interaction, community members may occupy spaces on the bridge or have regular processional experiences between
adjacent landmarks and view the city skyline. steel cables anchor the concrete mast to seat walls on the ground plane of the bridge.
walkers, runners and bicyclists are accommodated with separated lanes connected at nodes for the varied speeds of travel.
