israel-based architect alex meitlis has recently completed 'house in savion', a single family residence located outside
of tel aviv, israel. the structure's crisp white exterior is encompassed by a wood plank wraparound veranda and bordered
with walls of varying heights. diverse overhead conditions create different outdoor spaces, partially screened with tree canopies
or fully exposed to the sky. the remaining grounds contain a garden, open lawn and swimming pool.

the dwelling's facade allows daylight to strategically illuminate, enabling the sun penetrate in the winter months and provide
shade for comfortable use during harsh summer weather. the ground floor accommodates a continuous living room, open plan
kitchen and dining area. a low profile free-standing wood partition allows a dramatic openness generating the central spine
of the house allowing the inhabitant's extensive wood art collection to give a consistent warm character. large operable windows
open to adjacent terraces and garden spaces introducing outdoor elements into the interior creating a dialog between the environments
and framing the natural surroundings.

Better than I thought! Great way to contain your environment in a rural setting.........if that is the objective here.
TheOtherDonald   09.02.11
lovely concept and spatial treatment, especially the
outside space, inside needs a little tweaking, overall
a great place to live

It's a nice house, but two things confuse me:

1) there's an entry walk, but cars park near the other entrance (kitchen). So how often will the "main" entrance really be used? Won't the kitchen door be used in 99% of the time? And if yes, why spend so much effort to create a beautiful "main" entrance?

2) Israel has a lot of sun. But there's not a single shadowy spot outdoor. And the large glass fronts aren't shaded from the outside either, so it'll either be very hot inside or lots of precious energy is wasted for cooling indoors.

Alec: There are 2ble glazing gas insulated windows letting 90% of light in and 90% of warm out., that means no problem to cool the house.
2) In this house is not projected a parking space for visitors, but that space is next to the main entrance at the bottom of the plane, Owners will get in by kitchen access, and the one you call main access is a garden which also will lead to private areas.

this is my dream house

Wow

Love how geometric and private it is... I also love the entry wall, even though some other commenters dont...

They need some designer cushions to finish it off :)
